This year’s Budget continues to support our hardworking researchers, clinicians and scientists, with a dedicated $117 million to maintain Victoria’s leadership in health and medical research. Funding will go towards:

Australian Drug Discovery Centre

Establishing the Australian Drug Discovery Centre at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research, supporting the critical translation of new breakthroughs into new treatments.

Increasing access to clinical trials

The Australian Clinical Trials Network ‘TrialHub’, increasing access to clinical trials, particularly for patients living in regional and rural Victoria.

More treatment options for Victorians fighting cancer

The Gamma Knife Service at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre to provide a greater range of treatment options for Victorians fighting cancer.

Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery

Commencing development of the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery at St Vincent's Hospital, Australia's first research and education centre for biomedical engineering.

Generation Victoria

The Generation Victoria ‘Gen V’ initiative, an investment in the health, development and wellbeing of Victorian children.
