The Victorian Budget 2019/20 invests $282 million to give Victorian families more open space, closer to home. This includes:

Creating more parkland

$154 million to create over 6,500 hectares of parkland, equivalent to more than 3,000 MCGs, with new walking and bike trails right across Melbourne, providing a place for local families to relax and switch off.

Improving camp sites and outdoor facilities

$106 million to build new campsites, upgrade outdoor facilities and reduce camping fees, making a camping trip more affordable for families.

Upgrading Botanical Gardens

$5 million to upgrade spaces and facilities at Botanical Gardens across the state, including Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens.

Supporting recreational fishing

In addition, the Budget provides $82.1 million to support boating and recreational fishing across Victoria, including upgrades to boat ramps, and stocking 10 million fish a year by 2022.
